Last month, more than 50 people cast off the docklines just after dawn in Stuart and West Palm Beach, Florida, and motored east across the Gulf Stream, bound for the Bahamas. They made their first landfall and cleared customs at Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour in West End, and the following day, they converged on the Abacos for the eagerly anticipated Carver Yachts Bahama Bash.
The luxurious Abaco Beach Resort & Boat Harbour Marina near Marsh Harbour was ground zero for the third annual owners’ rendezvous. During the event, owners had the opportunity to mingle with staff from Carver Yachts and Stuart-based dealer Sovereign Yacht Sales—and so much more.
They traveled to tiny No Name Cay, on the opposite side of the Sea of Abaco, to visit and feed the famous swimming pigs. Some extended their adventures by cruising onward to the appropriately named Green Turtle Cay to snorkel with sea turtles, or to small, protected Mermaid Reef just off Great Abaco to explore the sea life there.
They partied at the celebrated Nipper’s Beach Bar & Grill at Great Guana Cay. And at their Abaco Beach Resort home port, they enjoyed live music, a pool-deck cocktail party, and beautifully catered indoor and outdoor dinners. It was, essentially, the perfect summer getaway for grownups who love their boats, the water, and making lifelong memories with family.
Because Carver Yachts is one big family, from the hardworking folks at our Pulaski, Wisconsin, headquarters to the dedicated dealers and enthusiastic owners across the country. We share information and stories, help each other, and of course, answer the call to have a party. We love being together, and the Bahama Bash was perhaps the year’s greatest celebration of the Carver Yachts life.
Like all owners rendezvous events, however, it offered an important opportunity for boaters of all skill levels to learn and gain valuable experience. This was, essentially, a long-distance, open-water cruise without the hassle. Carver Yachts planned the entire trip, from departure, navigation and Bahamian customs/immigration to dockage, dinners and activities.
For yacht owners who might feel uncomfortable tackling such a voyage solo, the Bahama Bash allowed them to participate in the company of veteran yacht captains. They could learn along the way, as they followed the lead yachts from port to port; benefit from so much shared knowledge, gain the confidence to go cruising on their own; and even build lasting friendships.
In fact, it’s not unusual for boaters to attend the same rendezvous year after year for exactly this reason. Many of this year’s Bahama Bash attendees were returning for the third year in a row. For those who are experienced cruisers, this turnkey event always has something to offer, with new places to go, new things to do, and the opportunity to simply show up and have a good time.
At its heart, every Carver Yachts rendezvous event is about fun. Our team arranges the social events so boaters can get to know each other, and we ensure plenty of free time so families and friends can enjoy the chosen destination in their own unique ways. Our goals are simply to incorporate a few local highlights, spoil our guests with great food and drinks in memorable venues, and make sure we have a few laughs along the way.
Whether you’re new to Carver, or have been with us for many years, you’ll find that an owners rendezvous is a very special way to fully embrace the Carver life—learning, reveling in time on and around the water, making memories, and becoming part of our extended family. Simply contact your preferred dealer to learn more about upcoming Carver Yachts rendezvous events.
And for our part, it’s an honor and privilege to share these adventures and memories with you.
